A poll was taken of 100 students of the Nichols High School; 25 students were from each of the grade levels from freshmen to seniors. The 100 students were asked where they lived either in the city of Buffalo or in one of the surrounding areas. Overall, the most popular residences was in Buffalo with 27% of the high school students surveyed living in the city. The most popular suburb was Orchard Park with 14% of the students residing there, but the Amherst/Williamsville Area was close beyond with 13%.

Comparing the North towns (Amherst/ Williamsville, Clarence, East Amherst, Grand Island, Kenmore, Niagara Falls/Lockport Area) to all the South towns (Cheektowaga/ Lancaster, Hamburg, Orchard Park, South Towns), 43% of the students reside in the North towns, while 30% reside in the South towns; Therefore from this comparison, more Nichols Students reside in the North towns than the South towns.

When we break down the data into the eleven different categories for location, and divide the total number of students per area into the four different grade levels, it displays the distribution of grade levels per area. For each grade level, the most common area of residence is the city of Buffalo, however for the sophomores, the city if tied at 5 between the city of Buffalo, the Amherst/Williamsville area, and Orchard Park for the most common area of Residence.

The main observation we can take away from this poll is that majority of Nichols High School students live in the city and within each grade, one of the most common, if not the most common, area of residence is the city of Buffalo.
